<br /> . <br />Monthly Department Head Report, June, 1998 Page 2 <br />Street I .ight Request . <br />The Public Safety Commission received a petition for the installation of a street light at <br />the Cleveland Avenue-County Road E2 intersection. Commission members looked at the <br />intersection and asked the Public Works Director to request the County install the <br />requested street light, as both roads involved are County roads. Mr. Stafford has sent that <br />request; however, the County has not had time to respond. <br />Gateway <br />The curbing is now in on Gateway Boulevard and the contractor is hauling in road base. Paving <br />should begin soon. Buildings II, III and IV are now enclosed. Floors are being poured and <br />interior work is under way. <br />1998 Street PrQject <br />The City received the official Turnback Resolution from Ramsey County and got approval from <br />the Rice Creek Watershed District for the Sto\...-e '-\...-enue storm sewer at the beginning of the <br />month. These were items of concern when the project was awarded_ <br />Storm sewer work on Edgewater is completed a:xi curbing and aprons have been poured. <br />Contractor is scheduled to start bringing in road base this week. . <br />Storm sewer work has started on Stowe and should be completed by Friday, June 26, 1998. <br />Some ponding has occurred on Stowe as a result of blacktop removal and heavy rains. Traffic to <br />this point seems to be getting through the water spots OK. Curbing should immediately follow <br />the stornl sewer on Stowe Avenue. <br />Puhlic Works <br />With Fred Reed out for a triple by-p2SS and h= prob]eJ:T'~, plus '-acations, etc., the Public <br />Works Department has been short-h.:mded all m=th. Fortunately, the Department has two pretty <br />good part-time employees who haw been kept tnb} mainly on blad:top patching, so far. <br />Currentlv, all Public \Vorks =p;c,-= are doi=::be 2"" q=er water meter readin!:!s. This takes <br />r _ ~ _. "-' <br />most of a week with good wearhe:-. <br />Three more collapsing storm w= catch baiu'5 nave been discovered a....ld one has been rebuilt. <br />Materials for the other two are on hand. <br />Graffiti problems were down this year, especially around the high school. Possibly all the <br />negative attention to the Taggers last year and the pro-active work by the school and authorities <br />helped. <br /> . <br />---.- <br />
