The county auditor is responsible for the <br /> coordination of the selection of the Truth in Taxation dates, which include both the initial and continuation hearing <br /> dates. The dates for the County and Metropolitan Special Districts are set by statute as listed below. Next the <br /> school districts select their dates and then the cities. Following is a list of the dates not available for the city's <br /> initial and continuation (if at all possible) Truth in Taxation hearings: <br /> DISTRICT DAY INITIAL DATE DAY CONTINUATION DATE <br /> Ramsey County Tuesday December 8, 1998 Tuesday December 15,1998 <br /> Metro Joint Dist Wednesday December 2, 1998 Wednesday December 9, 1998 <br /> ISD #621 Tuesday December 1, 1998 Thursday December 10,1998 <br /> ISD #623 Thursday December 10, 1998 Thursday December 17,1998 <br /> Minnesota statute S275.065 Subd. 6 (i) requires that hearings and continuations must be held between , <br /> November 29 and December 20, 1998. The hearings must be held after 5:00 p.m. if scheduled on a day other <br /> than Saturday, No hearings may be held on a Sunday. The continuation hearing, if needed, must be held at leas <br /> five business days but no more than 14 business days after the initial hearing. New this year the Legislature <br /> reserved two dates for cities to schedule hearings. They are: <br /> Monday, December 7,1998 and Monday, December 14,1998 <br /> Also, the enclosed forms need to be completed and returned by September 15, 1998. They are as follows: <br /> 1) Certification of Proposed Property Tax Levy <br /> 2) Hearing Date Certification (as explained above) <br /> 3) Certification of Payable 1999 Debt Levy Schedule, This is only if our bond register shows a debt levy <br /> for your district A final Debt Levy Schedule will need to be certified with the final levy in December as <br /> well. <br /> The spreadsheet with the values and other pertinent information used in calculating the tax rate for the Truth in <br /> Taxation statement will be sent as soon as it is available.
