WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 1998 <br /> 8:00 P.M. - ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chair Erickson called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Present were Chair Steve Erickson, Commissioners Terri Duchenes, Marty Rye, Dave <br /> Sand, and Brent Nelson. <br /> Absent was Commissioner Therese Galatowitsch. <br /> Also present were: Council member Paul Malone, City Administrator Brian Fritsinger, <br /> Assistant to the City Administrator Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director <br /> Cindy Walsh, Associate Planner Nancy Randall, and Recording Secretary Marie Tischer. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING HELD ON <br /> JULY 1. 1998 <br /> . Sand moved, seconded by Rye to approve the July 1, 1998, minutes. The motion carried <br /> unanimously (5-0). <br /> CASE #98-09 - CITY OF ARDEN HILLS - 1245 HIGHWAY 96 - SPECIAL USE <br /> PERMIT (CITY HALL) - PUBLIC HEARING <br /> Chair Erickson requested verification of the public hearing notice. Assistant to the City <br /> Administrator Kevin Ringwald verified notice of public hearing in the Bulletin on July 22,1998. <br /> Chair Erickson gave an overview of the public hearing process, then opened the public hearing at <br /> 8:03 p.m. <br /> Mr. Ringwald explained the City of Arden Hills is requesting approval ofa special use permit <br /> (SUP) to facilitate the construction of a 15, I 02 square foot City Hall at the southeast comer of <br /> Sunfish Lake on the Twin Cities Arrny Ammuoition Plant (TCAAP) on a 2.4 acre portion of <br /> TCAAP zoned R- L He explained the City has been working on the plans for a new City Hall as <br /> well as the redevelopment ofTCAAP. The City's vision for the redevelopmel1t of the TCAAP <br /> includes many uses, but the construction of the first new structure on this property will be a <br /> milestone for the City. The Council has chosen Sunfish Lake as the location for the new City <br /> Hall and has been working with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Minnesota National <br /> Guard to obtain the right to construct a City Hall on this property. The Council believes that this <br /> discussion has progressed far enough to warrant moving forward with the necessary City <br /> . approvals. When the authorization from the property owners is granted, then the City can <br /> commence construction. <br /> -- <br />
