---------------------
.
ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - SEPTEMBER 14, 1998 12
Mr. Fritsinger indicated there will be a meeting tomorrow with Mayor Probst, Councilmember
Aplikowski, and the architect for the City Hall to look at the budget items and be sure all parties .
involved are on the same "page" with regard to the project.
Mr. Fritsinger stated a notice has been received from the City employee's health care provider
and there will be an expected eight percent increase in group health insurance rates for next year.
COlTNCIL COMMENTS
Couneilmember Aplikowski commented regarding whether certificates of appreciation would be
provided for committee members at the upcoming annual recognition picnic.
Mr. Fritsinger stated this hadn't been done for several years, and committee members seemed
most appreciative of the Couneilmembers hosting the annual event.
Councilmember Aplikowski noted she has an invitation for the Council to attend the Ramsey
County League ofLoeal Governments and Coalition for Healthy Youth Town Hall meeting
being held September 24,1998 at 6:30 p.m., at the Shoreview Community Center. She indicated
the fonnat will be different this year.
Council member Keim noted there will be a Northwest Youth and Family Services open house on
October I, 1998 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Probst commented, regarding thc Fox 29 tower, he is unclear where things are going at .
this time, but expects some additional information this week.
Mayor Probst Slated he has an issue regarding the Ramsey County TIP, included in the packet,
showed only two projects, both of which are scheduled out in the future. Hc noted the project
from Fairview Avenue to Cleveland Avenuc is not a large concern but the project on Lexington
to Highway 96 to Victoria Street, which had once becn considered an urgent issue, has been
Tllov.cd out to 2003. He asked for further cxplanation for this delay.
Mr. Brown statcd both thc City of Arden Hills and Shorcvicw must request action in getting thc
necessary right-of-ways and signals.
Mr. Fritsinger statcd thc dircction given by thc County is that it's a City project and the two
cities should meet with the residents and proceed when secn fit.
Mayor Probst indicated two issues with Ramsey County are the support for the advance of the
Tony Schmidt Park and where things stand with NSP regarding underground lines. He stated he
believed NSP has approached Ramscy County for pcrmission to construct ovcrhcadlines and has
bccn given permission to do so. Whcn thc County was asked by City staff to have comTllunity
involvement with this issue, the City was told it was a County issue. I-Ic feels this is very
frustrating.
Mayor Probst also commented that the Cleveland Avenue Bridge project is another source of .
concem. This was considered an emergency project two years ago when it was falling down,
now it does not scem to be much of an issue.
