(In the case of <br /> cities of the first class, the Mayor, after consulting with the County Sherift~ ""ill <br /> submit the request to the Governor.) <br /> Requests for activation of the National Guard are to be submitted to the State <br /> Duty Officer, by calling (612) 649-5451, <br /> Military Hssistance shall be employed only to supplement and support city, <br /> county, and state efforts, Military assistance may include area security, road <br /> blocks, crowd control, emergency communications, emergency repairs to <br /> roads, bridges, public structures and clean-up activities, disaster control and <br /> similar functions n01 involving private properties, industry and similar <br />activities. <br /> The requesting agency (city government) must be prepared to estimate the <br /> amount and type of assistance required. Typical requirements might include: <br /> military police, general personnpl, heavy eqllipmpnt vehicles, aircraft, <br /> helicopters, transportable hospitals, tents and bedding, communications <br /> systems, and any other type of military gear that may be available. . <br /> Specific instructions for obtaining mil itary assistance can be described as <br /> follows: <br /> .. insure ihat city emergency has been officially declared by the <br /> Mayor. <br /> .
