Fund No. 704 - Tax Increment Finaucine District No.2,
$250,000 Developer Reimbursement for Soil Corrections
Mr. Post noted at the October 14, 1997 meeting of the Arden Hills Economic Development
Authority, the Commission considered a request from Welsh Companies for additional financial
assistance on Phases II, ill and N of the Gateway Development. The additional funds would be
compensation for additional costs to complete brick work on the exterior of the buildings and
reimbursement for soil corrections costs which were above and beyond that anticipated. He
stated the only issue being acted on at this meeting is the $250,000 cost for the soil corrections.
The $200,000 brick work has been previously dealt with through the reduction of the sale price
of the rendering plant property.
. Mr. Post stated the developer (Welsh Companies) submitted a July 16, 1998, $250,000
reimbursement request to the City of Arden Hills for soil correction costs incurred through May
15', 1998. He indicated staff began the process of auditing this request with the documentation
available and from an audit standpoint, this was not an ideal situation because the soil correction
costs were embedded into the overall excavation contract with subcontractor Glenn Rehbein
