<br />ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION - FEBRUARY 3, 1999 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand asked for a status regarding the Neighborhood Commons. Mr. Ringwald <br />stated that they were still awaiting the final decision on the grant from Metropolitan Council. <br />Without the grant, the Neighbdrhood Commons would not be able to accomplish much. <br />Commissioner Sand asked if the grant money was for the street corner improvements. Mr. <br />Ringwald stated that much of the money would go towards building the sidewalks, installing <br />lighting and landscaping. <br /> <br />Cornmissioner Sand asked if there was a deadline for the Metropolitan Council to make their <br />decision. Mr. Ringwald stated that there was and it should be very soon. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand asked if the grant money would include the corner at County Road D and <br />Cleveland Avenue. Mr. Ringwald stated that it would. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand asked for the status of Mr. Ted Brausen's desire to purchase the property at <br />County Road D and Cleveland Avenue. Mr. Ringwald stated that he had informed Mr. Brausen <br />that the Planning Commission had received his information and that they would take it under <br />consideration when developing the land. Commissioner Sand asked if it had been made clear to <br />Mr. Brausen that it would be difficult for him to develop on the corner. Mr. Ringwald stated that <br />it had been. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Chair Erickson asked if Mr. Brausen would be proposing a Texaco Station. Mr. Ringwald stated <br />that he would be. He indicated that Mr. Brausen is aware that the City was planning to change <br />the Zoning District on the corner and create a new Neighborhood-Business District. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand noted that he had previously mentioned to Staff that, on either G1enhill <br />Road or Edgewater Avenue, off of New Brighton Road, someone had been building a huge <br />garage. He asked if the Staff had reviewed the situation to determine if it met the zoning <br />requirements. Mr. Ringwald stated that he had Dave Scherbel inspected the structure and he had <br />indicated that it does barely meet the zoning requirements. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand referred to an article in the Saint Paul Pioneer Press regarding the Arsenal <br />site. He expressed his hopes that it meant the City Hall would be built soon. <br /> <br />Chair Erickson asked if bids had gone out for the new City Hall. Mr. Ringwald stated that the <br />project would be going out for bids the week of February 8, 1999 and the winning bid would be <br />accepted after March 15, 1999. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand stated that, assuming the project moves forward on March 15, 1999, it <br />would be interesting to see how the map corresponds with the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand requested clarification on what portion of the TCAAP site would the <br />Minnesota National Guard be obtaining ownership. Mr. Ringwald suggested that Staff produce a <br />map 'and provide the Planning Commission with a copy of it. Commissioner Sand agreed. <br /> <br />e ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand moved, seconded by Cornmissioner Baker to adjourn the meeting at <br />10:42 p.m. The motion passed unanimously (5-0). <br />
