BR W is currently trying to contact representatives from Graingers and the Round
Lake Business Center however, we do not anticipate any opposition from these property owners.
BR W has also discussed the potential of incorporating the trail work into the current contract
with Forest Lake Contracting by change order. The Contractor has indicated that thcy would be
wilJing to perform the work at existing unit prices. Our preliminary construction cost estimate
for thc trail segment is approximately $75,000.00.

There are several advantages to incorporating the work into the existing Forest Lake contract.
The construction cosls are reflective of a much larger project artd therefore more economical than
a stand alone project; Forest Lake Contracting has excellent qualifications and significant
cxperience with this type of work; constructing the middle segment of trail in the future would
rcquire access from either the north or south which would significantly damage the cxisting trails
(likely requiring replacement);

Recommendation
The Arden Hills City Engineer recommends that the Council authorize staff to acquire all
necessary easements and permits and prepare the change order to the West Round Lake Road,
Phase 1 contract for the work.

e

cc: Mark LynchlBRW
Nick Landwer/BRW
Dwayne Stafford!
