Brown/BRW, Inc. <br />Arden Hills City Engineer <br /> <br />Date: August 4, 1999 <br /> <br />Subject: Change Order #2 <br />West Round Lake Road, Phase 1 <br /> <br />Backl!round <br />The City of Arden Hills awarded Forest Lake Contracting of Forest Lake, Minnesota, the West <br />Round Lake Road, Phase 1 project on March 8, 1999. The total awarded contract amount was <br />$794,725.05 which included Bid Alternate A (topsoil excavation) and Bid Alternate B <br />(landscaping); The Council approved Change Order #1 on April 12, 1999 reducing the overall <br />contract amount by $32,000.00 to $762,725.05. <br /> <br />Purpose of Change Order #2 <br />Change Order #2 includes additional work as described below: <br /> <br />1) Highway 96/West Round Lake Road Intersection Modifications: <br />The project plans were submitted to Ramsey County Public Works in December, <br />1998 for review and comment. We did not receive any comments from the county <br />staff until after the project was awarded to Forest Lake Contracting. The county <br />requested that some modifications be made to the temporary signal system, additional <br />vehicle detector loops, signal heads, a protected left turn lane and raised bituminous <br />median paving. The Contractor recently submitted pricing for the additional work to <br />BRW for review and approval. The approved cost of this work is approximately <br />$17,000.00. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Nott Company Grading: <br />The Nott Company property is located directly south of the former Indykiewicz <br />parcel. The original plans included temporary modular block wall to be constructed <br />along the southeast edge of the new roadway (temporary section) in order to avoid any <br />grading on the Nott Company site. BRW conducted an informational meeting with <br />the Nott Company to explain the project and the anticipated phase 2 project. An <br />outcome of this meeting was the request by the Nott Company to grade the <br /> <br />U:\WPD<X:S\ARDENHIL\ROUNDLAK\CONSTRCT\CHANGE#1.MEM <br />
