<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - SEPTEMBER 13, 1999 <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />Mr. Brown advised that the City Engineer recommends the City Council approve pay request #5 <br />in the amount of$170,883.95 for Forest Lake Contracting, A rctainage of 5 percent was being <br />held for the project. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst asked if the City Engineer expected this project to be accomplished under budget. <br />Mr. Brown stated that he anticipated the project to be completed approximately $10,000 or more <br />below budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst asked Mr. Stafford ifhe was satisfied with the work accomplished so far. Mr, <br />Stafford stated that the project has gone well. The Public Works Department had inspected the <br />manholes and pipe and a bacteria test was performed on the newly installed water main. If the <br />results of this test are acceptable, then the water main will be put into service, <br /> <br />Contrary to his comment at a previous City Council meeting, Councilmember Malone stated that <br />the southbound lane of West Round Lake Road was wide enough, He noted that there appeared <br />to be a hump in the road where the stub road intersects with the southbound lane. Mr. Brown <br />stated that the southbound lane was being reviewed, as there had been other issues with the <br />pavement. Councilmember Malone expressed his disapproval of eastbound Highway 96 being <br />brought down to one lane at the West Round Lake Road intersection, <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson moved and Councilmember Aplikowski seconded a <br />motion to approve pay request #5 in the amount of$170,883.95 for Forest Lake <br />Contracting, Thc motion carried unanimously (5-0). <br /> <br />E. Allied Blacktop, Pay Request #1 (Final), 1999 Sealcoating Project <br /> <br />Mr. Brown eXplained that Allied Blacktop had completed the 1999 Sealcoating Project. Pay <br />Request #1 reflects the first and final payment for the work of $25,635.48, which was less than <br />the contract amount. The existing striping on Valentine Lake Road was protected during the <br />sealcoating process by use of tape installed by a separate contractor hired by the City, which <br />saved some money. City staff removed the tape following sealcoating operations, With the <br />seal coating around it, the striping should last another 10 years. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown advised that the City Engineer recommends the City Council approve pay request #1 <br />(final payment) in the amount of$25,635.48 for Allied Blacktop, No retainage was being held <br />for the project. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst asked ifMr. Stafford was pleased with the outcome of the project.
