<br />e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1999 <br />7:30 P.M. - ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chair Steve Erickson called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Present were Chair Steve Erickson, Commissioners Stephen Baker, Terri Duchenes, <br />Therese Galatowitsch, Marty Rye, and Dave Sand, <br /> <br />Absent was Commissioner Brent Nelson. <br /> <br />Also present were Councilmember Paul Malone and Associate Planner Nancy Randall, <br />and Recording Secretary Lori Rolfson. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING HELD ON <br />SEPTEMBER 1, 1999 <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand moved, seconded by Commissioner Baker to approve the September <br />1,1999 minutes. The motion carried unanimously (6-0), <br /> <br />PLANNING CASE #99-12 - MIDWAY NATIONAL BANK - 1315 RED FOX ROAD - <br />VARIANCE/SITE PLAN REVIEW - PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />Chair Erickson confirmed that all public hearings on this evening's agenda were announced in <br />the September 22, 1999 publication ofthe Bulletin. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall explained that the petitioner is requesting approval of a variance (37 feet proposed, <br />when 50 feet is required) and site plan to allow for a 5 foot 6 inch by 13 foot 6 inch generator and <br />screening for their facility. The site has a unique setback configuration, The lot is bordered by <br />public right-of-way on three sides, thus requiring a 50-foot setback on three sides. <br /> <br />This item was originally scheduled for the September 1, 1999, regular Planning Commission <br />meeting and was postponed, upon the applicants request, due to some new information they had <br />received. Staff had agreed to allow the applicant to hook up the generator temporarily, as they <br />were going through the process, as long as there were no complaints and the applicant was <br />moving forward with a permanent solution. In connecting the generator to the junction box, they <br />discovered that the generator would need to be located as close to the junction box as possible in <br />order to facilitate a smoother connection. <br /> <br />The applicant had considered several locations for the generator. Other locations are limited due <br />to the unique location of this lot. One option would be on the north side of the parking area; <br />however, the only benefit would be that the generator may be easier to screen. Additionally, the <br />applicant has noted that it would be difficult to connect the generator to the junction box from <br />
