I
'-
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
II
I
I
I
I
I
I

I

The pond would be approximately 0.75 acres in size and be a maximum of 10 feet
deep with a permanent pool visible except for extremely dry periods. The
proposed site includes land owned by MnDOT and the City of Arden Hills. A
significant stand of trees exists throughout the site especially adjacent to Hamline
A venue and many of those trees would need to be removed in order to allow for
the grading of the pond.

Proposed Pond B is located in the vicinity of Hamline A venue north of Ingerson
and therefor can only be constructed if Hamline A venue is vacated as is described
in an alternative above. This pond would treat storm water from Tiller Lane,
Cannon A venue and Dunlap Street which currently drain into the wetland located
between Ingerson Road and Tiller Lane. The pond would be approximately 0.5
acres in size and be a maximum of 10 feet deep with a permanent pool visible
except for extremely dry periods. The construction of the pond would require
coordination with MnDOT and the Rice Creek Watershed. The proposed site
includes land owned by MnDOT and the City of Arden Hills. A few trees exist
throughout the site and some of those trees would need to be removed in order to
allow for the grading of the pond however the loss of screening would be less
severe than the screening lost to construct Pond A. If Pond B is not constructed,
the runoff is proposed to continue to drain directly to the wetland however a grit
chamber should be considered to provide some level of water quality treatment.

A third ponding site located between Ingerson Court and Femwood Court but
rejected from further consideration due to lack of adequate public space to
construct a pond, significant amount of tree clearing and issues with working
within the waters of Lake Josephine. If the Council elects to not construct Pond
A, a grit chamber should be considered at this location to provide a minimal
amount of sediment and trash removal from runoff entering Lake Josephine.

Prooosed Water main/Sanitary Sewer Imorovements

A. Watermain
The project includes for the relocation of existing fire hydrants along the streets
proposed to be reconstructed as necessary. The proposed roadways will have
different curb lines and widths from the existing streets and some existing hydrant
locations may conflict with the new roadway locations. Hydrants will be
evaluated at the time of relocation to determine whether they should be replaced
due to underground corrosion or valve control problems, etc. Replacement or
relocation of a small amount of watermain to allow for storm sewer construction
is also anticipated. The final scope of watermain relocation will be determined as
a part of the final design. The existing watermain in the neighborhood does not
have a history of excessive breaks/leaks and is not proposed to be replaced en
masse.

6
