This area is on a slight hill, a curve, and has limited visibility. Residents indicate up to <br />ten (10) vehicles routinely park in this area, causing safety concerns as vehicles swing out to pass <br />the parked vehicles. The attachcd pictures, taken on November 3, 1999, show three (3) cars <br />parked in the area of concern with subsequent pictures showing parking space available for <br />approximately twenty (20) more vehicles in the sehool parking lots. <br /> <br />Operations and Finance Committee Review <br />This issue was discussed at the November 18, 1999 Operations and Finance Committee meeting. <br />Mark Kelliher, Committee Chair, also talked to the petitioner and the School Principal, who was <br />aware of the problem from previous complaints. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The Operations and Finance Committee, upon a Wlanimous vote, recommends that the City <br />Council authorize the Public Works Department to install "No Parking During School Hours" <br />signs as needed near the Chatham A venue pedestrian access to Valentine School. <br />
