Post, City Accountant@ <br /> <br />Charitable Gambling Premises Permit Renewals <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />At the January 31, 2000 regular Cormcil meeting, Cormcil will be presented with two (2) <br />resolutions dealing with the above subject. The Minnesota Gambling Control Board requires the <br />local unit of government to evidence approval by individual resolutions rather than by group <br />consent. Following is a brief overview of the resolutions. <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 00-07, "Resolution Approving Light Brigade Charitable Gambling <br />Application at Blue Fox Inn" <br />This Premises Permit renewal involves the applicant's request to continue Class B pull <br />tab operations at the Blue Fox Inn for the period from April I , 2000 to March 31, 2002. <br /> <br />Staffhas no hesitation in endorsing this Premise Permit renewal resolution. The Light <br />Brigade is an outstanding local organization that prides itself on trying to contribute <br />100% of net profits in the form of local trade area donations. In the last two years, the <br />Light Brigade has made over $505,000 in local trade area donations to a variety oflocal <br />organizations, including several schools in the Mormds View School District. <br /> <br />2. Resolution No. 00-08, "Resolution Approving 621 Foundation Charitable Gambling <br />Bingo Hall Premises Permit Renewal Application" <br />This Premises Permit renewal involves the applicant's request to continue conducting <br />Class A bingo operations at the Pot 0' Gold for the period from April I, 2000 to March <br />31,2002. <br /> <br />Staff endorses the approval of this resolution for this local organization dedicated toward <br />improving the learning environment for students ofIndependent School District 621. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends Cormcil consider approving each of the above resolutions at the January 31, <br />2000 regular Council meeting. Representatives from each of the organizations will be present to <br />answer any questions Cormcil may have of them. <br />
