Post, City Accountant@ Charitable Gambling Premises Permit Renewals FROM: SUBJECT: At the January 31, 2000 regular Cormcil meeting, Cormcil will be presented with two (2) resolutions dealing with the above subject. The Minnesota Gambling Control Board requires the local unit of government to evidence approval by individual resolutions rather than by group consent. Following is a brief overview of the resolutions. 1. Resolution No. 00-07, "Resolution Approving Light Brigade Charitable Gambling Application at Blue Fox Inn" This Premises Permit renewal involves the applicant's request to continue Class B pull tab operations at the Blue Fox Inn for the period from April I , 2000 to March 31, 2002. Staffhas no hesitation in endorsing this Premise Permit renewal resolution. The Light Brigade is an outstanding local organization that prides itself on trying to contribute 100% of net profits in the form of local trade area donations. In the last two years, the Light Brigade has made over $505,000 in local trade area donations to a variety oflocal organizations, including several schools in the Mormds View School District. 2. Resolution No. 00-08, "Resolution Approving 621 Foundation Charitable Gambling Bingo Hall Premises Permit Renewal Application" This Premises Permit renewal involves the applicant's request to continue conducting Class A bingo operations at the Pot 0' Gold for the period from April I, 2000 to March 31,2002. Staff endorses the approval of this resolution for this local organization dedicated toward improving the learning environment for students ofIndependent School District 621. Recommendation Staff recommends Cormcil consider approving each of the above resolutions at the January 31, 2000 regular Council meeting. Representatives from each of the organizations will be present to answer any questions Cormcil may have of them.
