We need a
larger home and would like to remain in Arden Hills. Since my home was built in 1968
the set backs have changed and require a variance before I can proceed with the proposed
addition. I would like to obtain the building permit before June 1,2000 so that I will have
the summer to complete the project.

My home is located on the comer of Glen view Avenue and Dellview Avenue. The
variance that I'm applying for is that my house is located to close to the side street
(Dellview). The new addition is designed 6 feet back from the existing foundation and it
still can not comply with a 40 ft set back from my lot line. Locating the new addition any
further back from the lot line would not be practical and still meet the requirement of
increasing the size of my existing family room and kitchen.

This letter authorizes Debra Bloom, a registered Civil Engineer, to represent me in this
matter. She will also be involved in obtaining the building permit, because I personally
will not be available until spring. I would like the building permit issued at the end of
May 2000 so that I have a year to complete the project.

Thank you,

Howard W.
