<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - FEBRUARY 14, 2000 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />Councilmember Aplikowski stated that the Events Committee would hold its next meeting on <br />February 16, 2000. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem stated that she attended two events for the Northwest Youth and Family <br />Services, the annual Board retreat on February 4th and 5th, and the Outstanding Service to Youth <br />Awards on February 10, 2000. Recipients of the Outstanding Service to Y outh Awards included <br />Arden Hills resident Glen Dawson, former New Brighton Mayor Robert Benke, and current St. <br />Anthony Mayor Dennis Cavanaugh. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem stated that on February 10,2000 she attended the League ot Minnesota <br />Ci1ies~c.anference on website development. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem stated that the Operations and Finance Committee will meet Wednesday, <br />February 16,2000. She indicated that she would ask for a volunteer to serve on the Ingerson <br />Road Improvement Group. <br /> <br />Councilmember Rem expressed her appreciation to the Recording Secretary. She indicated that <br />she had talked with Mr. Lynch regarding the notion of shortening the minutes. She stated that <br />she appreciated the complete detailed minutes being submitted at this time, especially with the <br />issues currently being discussed. She noted that a number of residents rely on the minutes to get <br />a sense of how resolutions are made and she recommended that the minutes continue to be <br />submitted in full detail. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that he had copies available for review of the Metropolitan Council Annual e <br />Report, the Metropolitan Council 2020 Transit Plan and a copy of the Hiawatha Corridor fact <br />book. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that Metro Transit will be at the City on January 22, 2000. He indicated that <br />the Ramsey County Railroad Department will be submitting comments and has asked that formal <br />comments be returned back to the County. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that the letter from the Department of the Army was remarkable and he <br />expected construction on the new City Hall to begin this summer. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that a letter of resignation had been received from Ms. Betty Mullin of the <br />Communications Committee. He asked that a thank you note be sent to her on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that the City of Arden Hills has saved over $10,000 in liability insurance. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that there was legislation currently before the State of Minnesota which <br />would modify the laws regarding the taking of private property. He was concerned that this <br />legislation reflected the continued erosion oflocal authority. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated that he was disappointed with the impending resignation of Ms. Randall. He <br />hoped that Ms. Randall would be able to stay with the City long enough to help with the hiring of e <br />her replacement. <br />
