<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION - APRIL 5, 2000 <br /> <br />13 <br /> <br />Commissioner Sand stated that the school should pursue a uniform lighting plan for the exterior <br />ofthe school, which might include utilization of yellow lights which is preferable to residents. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rye left the meeting at 10: 1 0 p.m. <br /> <br />Chair Erickson asked whether the upper parking lot will accommodate a turnaround area for <br />emergency vehicles, and whether the area will be widened. Mr. Gannon stated there will be <br />room for additional parking in that parking lot, adding that there is the opportunity to replace the <br />24 parking spots which will be lost in the site plan. <br /> <br />Chair Erickson stated he would favor basing approval of the amendment upon no loss of parking <br />spaces. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nelson requested clarification with regard to the number of parking spaces as it <br />relates to staff and students driving to school. Julie (principal) confirmed that I in 3 students <br />drive to school, and 330 parking passes are issued. She noted that priority is given to students <br />who are willing to carpool. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nelson asked whether the addition of 3 fire hydrants was planned. Mr. Gannon <br />stated that the fire inspector required 3 additional hydrants in conjunction with the upgrade of <br />building safety. <br /> <br />Commissioner Duchenes moved, seconded by Commissioner Galatowitsch to <br />recommend approval of Planning Case #00-18, Special Use Permit Amendment, subject <br />to the following conditions: <br /> <br />1. Compliance with the height for structures. <br />2. Approval of Rice Creek Watershed District. <br />3. Compliance with the Lighting Standards of the Zoning Ordinance. <br />4. All lighting (except a select few for security) be on timers to be shut off by 10:00 <br />p.m., unless there is a school event which is later than 10:00 p.m. <br />5, Remove temporary classrooms. <br />6. Add three fire hydrants as requested by the Fire Inspector. <br />7. Parking be reconfigured for 0 loss from current number of parking spaces located <br />on property. <br /> <br />Voting on the motion: Erickson, Nelson, Duchenes, Galatowitsch voted aye. Baker voted <br />nay. Sand abstained. The motion carried (4-1). <br /> <br />This Planning Case will be reviewed at the Monday, April 24, 2000, City Council meeting. <br /> <br />PLANNING CASE #00-19 - JEFF LANASSA - 3153 SHORELINE LANE - FRONT YARD <br />VARIANCE <br /> <br />Commissioner Nelson left the meeting at 10:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall explained that the applicant is requesting approval of a front yard setback variance <br />(28 feet proposed, when 40 feet is required) for an addition and two car garage on a single family <br />lot zoned R-2. <br />
