Three bids were <br />received and the low bid was from Allied Blacktop in the amount of $40,562.50. All bids included a j 0% <br />bond as required by the Project Manual and were verified &s correct. The bid outcome is &s .follows: <br /> <br />I <br />2 <br />3 <br /> <br />Allied Blacktop <br />Asphalt Surface Technologies Corp <br />Pearson Bros., Inc. <br /> <br />$40,562.50 <br />$40,625.00 <br />$44,937.00 <br /> <br />The Engineer's Estimate for the work is $57,000.00. The substantial difference between the Engineers <br />Estimate and the actual bid prices can be attributed to a very competitive bidding market and the fact that <br />city crews performed the crack sealing of the roadways and will complete the sweeping of the excess <br />aggregate after the seal coating. The City has had very positive experience with Allied Blacktop in the past <br />and we are confident that the Contractor is able to complete the work satisfactorily. <br /> <br />The City Engineer, therefore, recommends the award of the 2000 Seal Coating Project to Allied Blacktop <br />for the total amount of $40,562.50. Due to the fact that $60,000 was budgeted for seal coating this year <br />the Council may consider adding the seal coating of Lake Johanna Fire Station No. I and the Trinity <br />Lutheran Church (Hazelnut Park) parking lots to the contract.
