Gulden

Date:

June 21, 2000

Ref:

National Night Out Preparation

The 17th annual National Night Out celebration on Tuesday August 15t is
rapidly approaching. I am sending out letters this week requesting that all
Neighborhood Watches register their block parties by July 18th. The night
of the 18th, the captains are invited to the Patrol Station to pick up their host
T-shirt and National Night Out posters and door hangars.

Hopefully, by July 20th I can have a list of all the block parties broken down
by community to distribute to the city administrators and local fire
departments to coordinate their itineraries.

I am in the process of preparing news releases to the community newspapers
to promote NNO. White Bear Township has an article in Town Life
Magazine, which will be out next week.

Several Deputies from our unit will be pulled from their assignments that
day to visit the various block parties. The block party lists will also be given
to the area squads in hopes that they can visit some of the parties when they
are not on calls.

The cities of Gem Lake and North Oaks do not have any Neighborhood
Watches, so most likely they will not have any block parties on National
Night Out. The city of North Oaks may benefit by having a city party on
NNO or another designated night. Oakdale has a very successful NNO party
for its residents every year. This may be possible later this summer or NNO
2001. ./
(
