<br />I <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: July 17, 2000 <br /> <br />TO: Joe Lynch, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Director 9;. <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Maintenance Facility Roof <br /> <br />Back!!round <br />The roof on the Arden Hills Maintenance Facility leaks profusely in the Parks bay and <br />minor leaks occur in the two Public Works bays. Three of the best known roofing <br />contractors in the metro area inspected the roof, and two of the contractors indicated it <br />was beyond repair. John A. Dalsin & Son, Inc. indicated they would stop the leaks at a <br />cost not to exceed $10,000. However, no warranty would be given due to the overall <br />poor condition of the roof. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />All three contractors contacted, Berwald Roofing Co., Inc, John A. Dalsin & Son, Inc. <br />and Walker Roofing Company Inc., submitted proposals to install a new roof and <br />necessary flashing on the facility. <br /> <br />Costs <br />Attached are the proposals to install a new roof on the Arden Hills Maintenance Facility. <br />The costs are: <br />. Berwald Roofing Co., Inc. <br />. John A. Dalsin & Son, Inc. <br />. Walker Roofing Company Inc. <br /> <br />North S1. Paul <br />Minneapolis <br />Minneapolis <br /> <br />$62,243.00 <br />$52,983.00 <br />$44,039.00 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The Public Works Director reconunends the City Council authorize staffto award Walker <br />Roofing Company Inc., of Minneapolis the contract to replace the Arden Hills <br />Maintenance Facility roof at a cost of $44,039. This unbudgeted 2000 capital <br />expenditure would be recorded in the Goverrunent Buildings Department of the General <br />Fund. Walker Roofing Company Inc. has provided over fifty references of which four <br />have been contacted randomly. All four spoke favorably ofthe Walker Roofing <br />Company Inc. <br /> <br />- <br />
