The Communications Commission <br />administers and enforces the franchise afJreement with the cable company and its <br />successors; stewards resources, includinf] franchise fees from member eities, scholarsblQ <br />funds from the cable company and other income and assets acquired by contract with the <br />cable company or others; provides a means of public access to cable television throuf]h its <br />establishment and oversif]ht of the NORTH SUBURBAN ACCESS CORPORATION; and <br />informs member cities and the public of developinf] technolof]y and issues related to cable <br />communications. <br /> <br />The NORTH SUBURBAN ACCESS CORPORATION, commonly known as community <br />access television, is a non-profit corporation f]overned by a board of directors representinf] <br />each of the ten member cities. The Corporation promotes profJfamminf] by and for the . <br />community; manaf]es the access channels and the access facilities; and encouraf]es public <br />use of cable communications. <br /> <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />. to provide access to cable communications to all member city residents <br />. to promote and protect our communities' rif]hts to use community television and <br />other telecommunication media by stewardinfJ current resources, intefJfatinfJ new <br />technolofJies and buildinfJ the awareness and skills of our residents <br /> <br />GOALS <br /> <br />. to deliver hifJh quality, timely profJrams via cable communications <br />. to anticipate, plan for and adapt to chanf]es in communications technology <br />. to increase awareness and encouraf]e the use of cable communications as a <br />means of sharinfJ information in and amonfJ the member cities <br />. to promote awareness of and use by individuals and institutions, such as schools, <br />fJovernment and civic fJfOUps <br />. to train and educate producers, users and others who request our help <br /> <br />~ f/~ao <br /> <br />4 <br />
