tit

e

e

~;X:fi I F?I r c J)

Arden Hills Website Task Force
Minutes - June 20, 2000

1.

Called to Order: 7:10p by Chair Craig wilson.
task force members Roger Aiken (Tom MacCallum
were unable to attend); Jennifer Chaput, city
staff liaison; Lois Rem! council liaison.

Attending were:
and Joe Turgeon
planner and

2. The group went over the draft report and felt it was
essentially ready to submit to Council as a memorandum with
request to Council for recommendation to proceed or not.

3. One item to expand in the report was to address cost concerns.
The group agreed to check with other cities for comparative
information. Questions to ask include: cost and time to
create the website; cost and time to maintain; annual cost for
content preparation; users statistics, if available; and
cost/benefits-actual or perceived.

4. Once this information is gathered, the question is how and
when to bring a report to the Council. The group agreed to
request time at an upcoming worksession to present its report
and answer questions from council and staff.

5.

Additional comments had been collected from other city
committees and staff, as well as staff at other cities. These
focussed on the amount of time a website saved staff and
residents from having to communicate standard information by
telephone, letter, fax, visit to City Hall, etc. With a
website, many standard information pieces and forms can be
assessed by anyone at any time. Postage and printing costs
can also be reduced by website availability of these items.

6. possible times for the next meeting were mid to late July and
again in mid to late August. The group hoped to have presented
its report to Council before it would meet again so that the
next meeting could be a discussion of Council reaction to the
report and request for recommendatons.

Adjourn: 8:50p.
