<br />Surc/wrlle Option <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />November 7, 2000 <br /> <br />Name <br />Address <br />Arden Hills, MN 55112 <br /> <br />RE: Water Meter Replacement <br /> <br />Dear: <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills has been upgrading or replacing all of the residential water <br />meters with radio read type meters, to replace equipment at the end of its usable life. <br />The new meters are more accurate than the older equipment and will reduce the amount <br />of time spent reading and processing utility bills. This project which began in November <br />1999, is now nearly completed. <br /> <br />City ordinance requires that watcr users allow the City access to the meter inside the <br />home. The installation contractor (USI) has attemptcd to contact you by mail, phone and <br />door knocks to schedule an appointment [or the meter upgrade or replacement. <br />Unfortunately they have not been able to do so. <br /> <br />Since it is more costly to manually read water meters than to read them by radio <br />transmission, the City Council has adopted a resolution that will place a $100 charge on <br />your account for every quarter the meter is manually read. The next meter reading is <br />scheduled for the last week of December and the additional $100 charge will appear on <br />the utility bill mailed to you in the first part of January. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />To avoid this charge, please contact as soon as <br />possible to schedule a meter upgrade or replacement. Meters less than 10 years old will <br />be upgraded with radio read heads. Meters older than 10 years will be replaced. <br />Installers will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your schedule.
