.

.

.

CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA
CITY COUNCIL MEETING, PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT WORKSESSION
JULY 30, 2001
6:30 P.M. - ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS

CALL TO ORDERlROLL CALL

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Dennis Probst called to order the special
City Council meeting at 6:37 p.m.

Present:

Mayor Dennis Probst, Councilmembers Beverly Aplikowski, David Grant,
City Administrator Joe Lynch, City Engineer Greg Brown, BRW, and
Recording Secretary, Nancy Czajkowski.

Absent:

Councilmember Gregg Larson.

DISCUSSION

Mayor Probst asked for possiblc discussion topics. Councilmember Rem responded with the
following topics: standards, PC! ratings, storm drainage and ponding, street width, curb and
gutter, worst first or neighborhood approach. She suggested beginning with the PCI rating. Mr.
Brown gave a presentation on the PC! rating, how it is used and what it was. After discussion,
the Councilmembers agreed the PCI is the proper rating to use to begin the discussion of a
potential project. They further agreed that they should discuss overlay as an option before a
street reaches the drop off point for replacement. They also noted that options in curbing should
be offered to residents.

Mayor Probst raised the issue of whether lack of curb and gutter should prevent a street from
being overlaid. He directed staff to provide a list of standards to discuss at the next meeting. He
noted the council would go down the list and find out where there is agreement.

RECESS

At 7:28 p.m., Mayor Probst recessed the meeting and reconvened the regular meeting in
the City Hall Council Chambers.

NOTICE OF MEETINGS

The next Pavement Management Meeting will be held Monday, August 13, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. at
the Arden Hills Council chambers.
