ARDEN HILLS REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 12,2002 6 e installation of new signage within the thirteen parks. Funding for this would be generated by the Park Fund. A total of 20 signs were needed for the parks at a total cost of$42,500. Council Member Aplikowski asked iflandscaping around the signs was part of the cost. Rich Straumann, Chairman of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee, replied landscaping was not a part of the proposal. Council Member Grant requested they find out from Vacker Inc. what the cost would be to have the sign panels made of 2 inches of cedar instead of 1-5/8 inches. MOTION: Council Member Larson moved and Council Member Ap1ikowski seconded a motion to authorize the purchase and installation of 20 Park signs in 2002 from Vacker Inc., at a cost not to exceed $42,500 with the funding to be taken out of the Park Fund. The motion carried unanimously (4-0). B. Approval to Hire Park Building Architect . Mr. Perron indicated the Parks, Trails and Open Space Plan recommended a series of improvements to be implemented. One of the improvements was for the design and construction of park facilities. Funding for this project would be generated by the Park Fund. At the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee meeting they reviewed bids and selected Hagen, Christensen and McIllwain (HCM) Architects at a fee of$30,000.00. Rich Straumann, Chairman of the Parks, Trails, Recreation Committee (PTRC), stated the buildings would be prairie style architecture, similar to the structures in Tony Schmidt Park. He indicated they did not know how many parks would be in the TCAAP area, but this would be discussed at future meetings. Roberta Thompson, PTRC, stated it was critical to have one architectural plan that was consistent throughout the park system. Council Member Larson expressed his concerns regarding the condition of the warming house at Hazelnut Park, and if that park were in need of improvements. .
