e

e

e

ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MINUTES
August 19, 2002

5

City Council Reports:

Council Member Grant Report: Council Member Grant reported the Bethel
College Sports Facility had been leased by the US Women's Soccer Association
and subsequently, Olympic security personnel escorted some Arden Hills residents
off the Bethel property at a recent event. He quoted a letter from Bethel College
relating to the issue, stating the facility is to open to the public, but when leased,
that indicates a closed venue.

Administrator Lynch said he met with Bruce Kunkel, and talked about a use
agreement, stating there will be other groups [than Bethel College] using the
facility.

Mayor Probst said serious negotiations had begun with Ramsey County as to how
the City wanted to deal with its portion of the Ramsey County Maintenance
Facility. He noted staff needs to explore this, and bring back to the Council. He
said the current plan indicates a cutoff entrance for Hamline A venue, and that was
not acceptable to the City.

Council Member Larson Report: Council Member Larson said he had nothing
at this time, but later said he saw a potential problem with the cutoff entrance for
Hamline Avenue, stating if the City does not have at least some connections at the
Hamline Avenue entrance area, the City is at a disadvantage for access in the
future.

Council Member Rem Report: Council Member Rem brought up TCAAP from
DNR concerning the 49 acres.

Council Member Aplikowski Report: Council Member Aplikowski said she had
great concerns regarding the agenda memo regarding the 35-W coalition. She said
she had met with the Peter Hellegers, the intended new City Planner.

Mayor Probst: No additional Report.

Mayor Probst adjourned the Work Session at 8:55 p.m.
