January 9. 2002 PJanninq Commission Meetinq Minutes Excerpt
Page 2 of 4

Acting Chair Sand asked what they would do in the interim. Mr. Rust responded
they would build a containment center that would match the existing garage
towards the lake.

e

Acting Chair Sand asked ifMr. Parrish had a preference regarding the garage and
the trash enclosure. Mr. Parrish responded his recommendation would be to add a
condition on the site plan review that a temporary enclosure will be provided until
the new garage is constructed. He could not see investing significant money
when the garage will be coming down. He explained the new garage would not
likely go through the Planning Commission.

Commissioner Galatowitsch asked how many feet the garage is from the house.
Mr. Rust responded it is a couple hundred feet.

Commissioner Galatowitsch inquired about their garbage handling. Ms. Cain
responded they roll carts, which work well for transporting the garbage, on the
path to the garage area. In the winter they do not have that many things going on
but the path is kept clear.

Commissioner Galatowitsch expressed concern that Little Brothers should plan
for the future, as their use might increase, and they may want the garbage located
closer to the house. She inquired if the drive that circles around will be capable of
supporting fire trucks to reach the building. Mr. Rust responded they would build
the drive to the City's standards. Regarding the dumpster, he added that the bulk
of their activity is in the summer. Although it is nice to have the garbage near the
kitchen, they do not think there will be that much debris to warrant having the
dumpster near the building. They can, however, look at that issue.

e

Commissioner Galatowitsch expressed concern with the parking, and stated it
looks rather haphazard. She suggested they include an area right outside the
house for parking. Mr. Rust responded most of the elderly are driven to the
facility and will not be parking a vehicle. The reason the parking is planned this
way is to soften the landscaping, however, they can work with Mr. Parrish on this
Issue.

Acting Chair Sand inquired which parking area would be paved and which would
use the turf blocks. Mr. Rust responded the parking closest to the building would
be hard surfaced parking, as it will get more use.

Acting Chair Sand suggested the area by the garage should be hard surfaced due
to the garbage trucks that would be coming in. His preference would be that the
top ten spaces be asphalt and the lower seven spaces, which are closer to
resideuts, would be turfed.

Commissioner Zimmerman suggested the ten spaces closest to the road be paved
and the spaces closest to the building be turfed. Commissioner Galatowitsch

e
