The Plan identifies ground water contaminated
areas and predicts areas that are potentially susceptible to ground water
contamination. It also contains a comprehensive topographic and geological
overview describing ground water aquifers in the County.

Approximately 60-70% land area within the City is identified as having a
"moderate sensitivity" to ground water pollution (Ramsey County, Figure
3,06-1, page 3-21). As discussed within the above Utilities section, the 51.
Paul Water Utility provides municipal water to the City of Arden Hills. Thus,
development of a well-head protection area plan would not be necessary.

Water-based Recreation Areas

There are two major water-based recreation areas within the City of Arden
Hills. Ramsey County's redeveloped Tony Schmidt Regional Park is on the
north side of Lake Johanna and includes a swimming beach and boat ramp.
Ramsey County's Lake 10sephine Park also has a swimming beach and
concrete boat access off Lexington Avenue, ,

Unique Features and Scenic Areas

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources maintains a database of
unique and sensitive plant and animal species.

According to the RCWD Water Resource Management Plan the Blandings
Turtle (Emydoidea Blandingii), which has received a "threatened status" in
the State of Minnesota, has been found within the City limits.

Pollutant Sources

The MPCA maintains lists of the generators of hazardous waste, above ground
and underground storage tanks, and leaking underground storage tanks, The
list is provided in Appendix D.

City of Arden Hills, Minnesota
Local Stormwater Management Plan

A-ARDEN0101.00
Page 22
