.

e

e

Haven Hill Daycare

Re: Our Program and Neighbors' Concerns

Haven Hill is a learning center for children of ages 3-5. It is a well-structured and fully
supervised program run by qualified teachers. A detailed catalog oflesson plans and
schedule of activities already exists.

Below are our responses to specific questions raised at the Planning Commission hearing
held on April 3, 2002:

1. Hours of Operation: Hours of operation for the DaycarelLeaming
Center will be from 7:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We do not intend to
Start at 6:00 a.m. as contemplated by some of the neighbors.

2. Noise: Haven Hill's goal is to provide a serious learning and
growth environment for the children. We will operate in a
disciplined environment, and approximately 90% of our time will
be spent indoors. A constantly supervised, fenced, outdoor play area will be
used (weather permitting) for approximately 30-45 minutes once a day during
winter and up to three times a day during summer.

3 Keeping Our Space: The children will either be indoors or in a
fully-fenced outdoor play area. Under no condition will children
be allowed to leave the Pilgrim House premises and enter neighbors' property.

4. Number of Children: In order to have a viable program to serve
the community, we need to have a license for 20 children; i.e. up to
20 children may be enrolled at a given time. Based on our
experience, we do not expect to have more than 12-15 children
present at any given time.

We have a vision to provide an excellent, educational daycare program that will offer the
children of the community a loving and secure environment where they can grow
spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually. It will have the small-
group setting of a home daycare, and the structure and curriculum of a pre-school. We
believe that many families in the area will benefit from this opportunity.

To the best of our knowledge, such a program does not yet exist in this area. We are
committed to being sensitive to our neighbors and hope to be recognized as a good
neighbor ourselves.

QI,'-L ()UOfr.)

JubsOnIDirector
