EXPLANATION OF PROJECT Pilgrim House 1212 Highway 96 Arden Hills, MN 3/6/02 My intention is to rent the downstairs area of Pilgrim House and start a daycare for approximately ten preschool children as of 6/1 0/02. Ideally I would like to eventually have 20 children enrolled in the program, but I believe a more manageable number for the space available in this facility would be closer to 12. Our licensed capacity will be limited by the amount of square footage room by room. I anticipate that I will accept only full-time enrollment between the hours of 7:00 (or possibly 7:15), in the morning and 5:30 in the afternoon Monday through Friday. Children often come and go on a variable schedule during our hours of operation. Some come as late as 9:30 and some leave as early as 3:00. I would estimate that traffic coming in and out would be about 20 cars/day depending on whether or not we have any siblings enrolled together. ~ My background is in education. I have a Minnesota teaching license in early childhood education. For the past two years I have been the director and head teacher at Shoreview Alliance Daycare. We presently have 13 preschool children enrolled in our program and we have four regular staff people. I run a very structured daycare program. We stay on a fairly exact schedule with an occasional change to our day. During winter months, weather permitting, we are outside for about 45 minutes after lunchtime. In nicer weather we also try to take the children outside sometimes in the morning and usually in the afternoon after 3:30. Once in awhile we have picnic lunches outside in the summertime. At Pilgrim House the children would be restricted to either stay in the playground area or on the lawn near the South entrance of the building.
