<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />~ <br />EN HILLS <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: May21,2002 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br />Joe Lynch, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Aaron Parrish, City Planner /If <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Design Center Community Dialogue <br /> <br />Overview <br /> <br />The City has looked at partnering with the University of Minnesota's Design Center for the <br />American Urban Landscape (Design Center) to conduct a "Community Dialogue" regarding the <br />reuse of TCAAP. Enclosed is a memo from the Design Center that highlights their tentative <br />approach to facilitating the Community Dialogue. On a basic level, the process will seek to <br />provide information about the current status of TCAAP; affirm and provide information relative <br />to previous planning studies; and provide a foundation for more refined land use and <br />infrastructure planning. <br /> <br />From a financial perspective, tbe total planning process would cost approximately $30,000. The <br />Design Center, through a McKnight Fonndation technical assistance grant, would provide <br />approximately $20,000 in funding, while the City would be responsible for and estimated <br />$10,000. <br /> <br />We are currently scheduling Thursday June 6, 2002 at 7:00 pm for the first Commnnity Open <br />House. <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Authorize staffto retain the Design Center to facilitate a community dialogue. <br />
