<br />City of Arden Hills Personnel Policy <br /> <br />Effective June 29, 2002 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE <br /> <br />If an employee has a complaint about the manner in which he/ she is treated as an employee <br />of the City of Arden Hills, such complaint shall be addressed by the City of Arden Hills as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Step 1. The employee shall orally present the complaint to the employee's department <br />manager within seven (7) calendar days after the event. The department manager shall discuss <br />the complaint with the employee and answer the complaint within seven (7) calendar days <br />after receipt of the complaint. Should the complaint involve the department manager, then <br />the employee should proceed directly to Step 2. <br /> <br />Step 2. If the complaint is not resolved in Step 1, it may be appealed to the City <br />Administrator within seven (7) calendar days after receipt of the reply from the department <br />manager. Any complaint not appealed to the City Administrator within this period shall be <br />waived. The complaint must be submitted to the City Administrator in writing, setting forth <br />the facts of the complaint, and the relief sought. The City Administrator shall act on the <br />complaint and provide the employee with a written statement of the City's final position <br />within seven (7) calendar days after receipt of the complaint by the City Administrator. <br /> <br />. Step 3. If the complaint is not resolved in Step 2, it may be appealed to the City Council <br />within seven (7) calendar days after receipt of the reply from the City Administrator. Any <br />complaint not appealed to the City Council within this period shall be waived. The appeal will <br />be placed on the agenda for the next regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council. The <br />employee and a representative of the employee shall have the right to appear before the <br />Council at this meeting. A final ruling on the complaint shall be made by a majority of the <br />City Council members within thirty (30) calendar days after receipt of the complaint. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />47 <br />
