She asked for research on looking at other <br />formats for thc Performance Review process. She statcd she would be willing to get some <br />information together for a rcview proccss with the City Administrator's assistance. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst updated Council on various correspondence received since thc last Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst stated, as a Council, they had ncvcr attempted to offer advice to thc School Board, <br />but asked if the other Council members had opinions rcgarding some of the proposcd cuts as <br />offered by the School Board. He stated hc was not surc he wanted to support this proposal. <br /> <br />Councilmembcr Rem suggested having a joint meeting with the School Board to discuss these <br />types of issues. She stated it would makc sense to have some form of communication with them. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst suggested to they meet with the School Board at the next Council Meeting at 6:00 <br />or 6: 15 p.m. Councilmember Aplikowski suggested they draft a Ictter to the Superintendent <br />expressing the Council's nonsupport ofthe busing proposal due to safcty issucs. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant stated the City did not have sidewalks, which would force children into <br />the streets, which were not safe. He pointed out thcy had many busy County Roads, that placed <br />the City at a disadvantage. Hc also pointed out that there werc many open areas in the City and <br />this was a safcty issue as well because some of those open areas wcre remote. Hc agreed they <br />should take a strong position regarding this issue and send a lettcr to the School Board, as well as <br />have a joint meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Larson stated he was agreeablc to mecting with them, but he did not believe they <br />would be responsive. <br /> <br />Mayor Probst updated COlmcil on TCAAP meetings he had attcnded. He stated there was clearly <br />a perception about not inviting the public into talk to Council about thc arscnal. He suggested <br />the Design Center at the University of Minnesota get involvcd and conduct public mcctings so <br />they had more than just a developer team's vicws. He stated they may also need to engagc a firm <br />that would help the City with the lobbying cfforts as wcll as the political process, and asked if <br />Council would be willing to havc staff explore these possibilities, as well as the cost regarding <br />both of thesc proposals. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant agreed they needed to take input from the public. He statcd this would be <br />the appropriatc time to start this process. <br /> <br />Councilmembcr Aplikowski rcqucsted they contain the public mccting part to the surrounding <br />cities only, but to certainly invite the local business community. She statcd transportation was <br />going to be one of the issues and she asked ifthcy wanted to invite MnDOT also. <br />
