<br />ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION - JUNE 5, 2002 <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />dO <br /> <br />Chair Salld asked if the canopy or awning could he extended all of the way along the . <br />middle of the building. He asked for something more creative and with more detail, <br />rather than having a flat wall between the two canopies. He requested the "Low Priced <br />Leader" sign be removed. Commissioner Ricke concurred. <br /> <br />Commissioller Zimmerman also supported the suggestion of a canopy or awning. <br /> <br />Commissioner Galatowitsch stated she believed this building was an improvement over <br />the prcvious Cub Food buildings. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman asked they take into consideration if there was a greenhouse <br />in the parking lot in the spring and the shortage ofthe parking spaces ifthis occurred. <br /> <br />Chair Sand requested the next proposal show the lighting plan. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman inquired about snow removal and where the snow would be <br />placed. Mr. Tucci replied the snow would all be pushed to the back of the development. <br /> <br />Mr. Tucci stated with respect to the liquor license, there was a City Ordinance that a <br />liquor license could Ilot be issued within 500 feet of a Church or school, but in this case, <br />the Church was located in Shoreview, so it would not apply to this development. He <br />indicated they were planning on having a liquor store on the premises. <br /> <br />Chair Sand asked what their timillg was for the development. Mr. Tucci replied they . <br />would like to start demolition this fall. <br /> <br />Chair Sand asked if there was any thought as a part of a community gesture to relocate <br />the batting cages within the City. Mr. Tucci replied he believed the existing owner was <br />thinking about relocating them, but he was not sure where they were going to be located. <br /> <br />Chair Sand recessed the meeting at 9: 17 p.m. and reconvened the meetillg at 9:23 p.m. <br /> <br />PLANNING CASE #02-04. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS. SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE <br />MODIFICA nONS <br /> <br />Staff reviewed their report dated May 16, 2002 and recommended the Commission hold a <br />public hearillg and make recommendations to the City Council. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lemberg expressed concern about the 28-foot street width versus the 32- <br />foot street width due to the inability of emergency vehicles having sufficient access. <br />Councilmember Aplikowski replied the Council had discussed this ill depth. She <br />indicated many of the streets were currently 28-foot streets and operated as 28-foot <br />streets. She stated these streets were labeled as neighborhood streets, but a collector <br />street would be wider. She indicated many of the City streets were 28-foot streets. <br /> <br />Chair Sand asked if there was any preferred curbing style. Mr. Parrish replied the e <br />Ordinance did not specify the curbillg style, only that concrete curb alld gutter were <br />required. <br /> <br />Commissioner Zimmerman recommended the City have a design standard for curbing. <br />
