Memo to Planning Commission
Planning Case #02-10: Bethel College
Page 2 ofJ

In 2000, Bcthcl submitted and received approval for a Special Use Permit amendment
and site plan to construct the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. The Complex is located on the
west of Old Snelling directly across from the main entrance to Bethel College. Generally
speaking, they are requesting two revisions relative to the previously approved
concession and storage building. First, they are requesting a slight revision in building
design to allow for a second level press box. The proposed and previously approved
elcvations are included for your review.

Second, they are requesting a slight shifting and reorientation of the building to the
southeast to enhance the functionality of the press box. This would cssentially give the
press box a view from behind home plate. The proposed and previously approved
building elevations are included for your review.

Site Plan Review

Since the change does not have a substantive impact to the ovcrall site, and the site plan
was previously approved, a comprehensive site plan evaluation has not been included. In
essence, the Planning Commission is being asked to evaluate the revised building
elevations and slight modification in building location. The applicant will be available at
the meeting to clarifY any questions that you might have relative to any of the
aforementioned items.

Staff Recommendation

In Planning Case #02-10, staff recommends approval of the site plan amendment as
presented:

Deadline for Aeency Actions

The City of Arden Hills received the completed application for this request on May 8,
2002.
