ARDEN HILLS PLANNING COMMISSION - JULY 17,2002 8 Commissioner Duchenes stated previously the Commission had agreed that if a home had . a one-car garage, a two-car garage could be built because of a hardship, but a three- car garage was not considered a hardship. Chair Sand opened the public hearing at 9:27 p.m. Mark Fertig, 1413 Colleen Avenue, stated the garage on his home was next to his neighbor's garage and not next to his neighbor's home. He replied his property had a drop-off in his backyard, which would limit their ability to add a doublc deep garage. He stated they would not consider adding a double deep garage. Alireza Foroozan, 1403 Colleen Avenue, stated he had a three car garage and there was enough room to get his trailer in his back yard. He stated applicant would also have enough room to get into their back yard. He stated Mr. Fertig's garage was really small and he encouraged the Commission to grant this variance. Chair Sand closed the public hearing at 9:33 p.m. Commissioner Ricke requested further information whether the City had granted variances on the north side of Colleen Avenue for three car garages. Chair Sand recessed the meeting at 9:35 p.m. for Mr. Parrish to research Commissioner Ricke's request. Chair Sand reconvened the meeting at 9:44 p.m. . Mr. Parrish stated no variances had been granted for side or rear yard setbacks. He stated the only variances on Colleen were for fences. I. Commissioner Zimmerman moved, seconded by Commissioner Ricke, to deny Planning Case 02-17, Setback Variance, Mack and Lisa Fertig, 1413 Colleen A venue, based on the fact that there was no hardship demonstrated. The motion carried unanimously (6-1 Lemberg). PLANNING CASE #02-04, CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, 1245 WEST HIGHWAY 96, SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE MODIFICATIONS Chair Sand opened the Public Hearing at 9:45 p.m. Staff reviewed their report of July 8, 2002 and asked for comments from the Commission. Chair Sand closed the Public Hearing at 9:47 p.m. Commissioner Zimmerman moved, seconded by Chair Sand to recommend for approval . to City Council as submitted, Planning Case #02-04, City of Arden Hills, 1245 West Highway 96, Subdivision Ordinance Modifications as presented. The motion carried unanimously (7-0).
