We will not be able to attend the meeting on July 17th so we would like
to voice our concern about their application for the permit.

Lake Johanna already has houses surrounding the shoreline. If you're in a boat on the lake or
standing on the shore Tony Schmidt Park and the Northwe;iern College are the only places .
where there is open space at the shore of the lake. Allowing one person to build a boat house
on the lake would only encourage other lakeshore owners on this and other Arden Hills lakes
to build other boat houses thus increasing the amount of buildings around the lake. Suddenly
views ofthe lake would crowded with small structures located at the lakeshore. The increase
in buildings would also increase the amount of impermeable surface in the area creating more
stormwater runoff into the lake.

I, on the other hand, would prefer opening up the land around the lake so a recreational trail
could be built allowing the public to enjoy this beautiful resource. 1 realize that the land
around the lake is mostly developed but perhaps a section of trail on the northern end
between the lake and the road could be connected with another trail.

Sincerely,

~c~~

Nancy Jacobson

.
