Moore; Director of Operations & Maintenance -r: ~ <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Recommendation for Hire of a New 0 & M Employee; <br />Mr. Aaron Andrew <br /> <br />Backl!ronnd <br />At the City Council meeting of May 13, 2002, the City Couneil unanimously authorized <br />the City Administrator to begin the hiring proeess for replaeement of one 0& M <br />employee, with a 60 day overlap period to train and to return to the City Council with a <br />recommendation for hire, Subsequently, the following has oecurred: <br /> <br />I, The position was advertised, <br />2. 66 applications were reeeived and sereened. <br />3. Five applicants were selected for first interviews, These interviews were <br />eondueted by the; Deputy Clerk, Superintendent of 0 & M and the Direetor of <br />O&M, <br />4, Two applicants were selected for final interviews, These interviews were <br />condueted by the; City Administrator, Superintendent of 0 & M and the Director <br />ofO&M, <br /> <br />At the conclusion of the final interview process and the suceessful eompletion of the <br />Criminal Background Cheek, Mr, Aaron Andrews was seleeted for the position, Mr, <br />Andrews is currently employed at F,M. Frattalone Excavating, He has experience in; <br />street repair, snow plowing, sewer & water site development/repair and operation/repair <br />of heavy equipment. In addition, he is already a member ofthe International Union of <br />Operating Engineers, Local 49, This is the same Union that currently serves the City's <br />o & M employees, <br /> <br />The salary range advertised for this position was $17,67 per hour to $18,67 per hour, Mr, <br />Andrews has aeeepted a starting salary of $17 ,67 per hour with a tentative start date of <br />September 16, 2002, The position would be probationary for a period of six months, <br /> <br />Staff Recommendations <br />Staff recommends the hiring ofMr, Andrews to the position of 0 & M employee at a <br />starting salary of $17,67 per hour, In addition his probationary start date is Monday <br />September 16, 2002, <br />
