.

.

.

Wetlands

Twelve wetlands were identified within the AUAR study area. Wetlands on the project
site were identified, characterized and delineated by Sanders Wacker Bergly, Inc.
The results of this work are presented in a Wetland Delineation Report dated
May 28, 2002. Twelve wetlands were identified on the site and labeled A, B, D through
K1, and K2 (see Figure 10).

Impacts to wetlands will be avoided where possible. Based on preliminary design
information, four of the twelve basins will be impacted with the Guidant Campus
expansion. A summary of the wetlands identified on the project site and proposed impacts
is presented Table 5.

TABLE 5
WETLAND SUMMARY

Wetland Name Wetland Type Approximate Size of Approximate Area
Wetland ofImpact
Wetland A Deep marsh (Type 4/5) 0.4 Acre 0.3 Acre
Wetland B Wet meadow (Type 2) 0.2 Acre No Impact
Wetland D Shallow marsh (Type 3/4) 2.3 Acres No Impact
Wetland E Deep marsh (Type 4/5) 1.7 Acres No Impact
Wetland F Deep marsh (Type 4) 0.2 Acre No Impact
Wetland G Deep marsh (Type 4) 0.2 Acre No Impact
Wetland H Deep marsh (Type 4) 0.1 Acre No Impact
Wetland I Deep marsh (Type 4) 1.2 Acre No Impact
Wetland J Deep marsh (Type 4) 0.1 Acre 0.1 Acre
Wetland KI Shallow marsh (Type 2/3) 0.1 Acre 0.1 Acre
Wetland K2 Shallow marsh (Type 2/3) 0.1 Acre 0.1 Acre
Wetland VlJ Shallow Marsh (Type 3) 0.1 No Impact
Total Area: 6.7 Acres(2) 0.6 Acre

(I) Wetland was not delineated, size and type are estimated.

(2) Not all of the wetlands lie entirely within the AUAR Study area boundary.

To comply with requirements of the Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act, wetland
impacts will be off set by creating mitigation at a 2: 1 ratio (2 acres of mitigation area for
each acre of impacted area). A detailed mitigation plan has not yet been developed,
however wetland mitigation will be accomplished by creating new replacement wetlands
on the project site. Existing wetlands located near the northwest comer of the site will
likely be enlarged to create new wetland area.

Guidant Campus Master Plan
DraftAUAR

- 16-

September 2002
