BACKGROUND:

.

The state is required to redraw the boundaries for each of the Metropolitan Council Districts.
This needs to happen every ten years and is based upon the 2000 Census.

The Metropolitan Council has provided three options for you to consider.

Alternative 1 aligns Arden Hills with the surrounding communities of Shore view, Mounds View,
New Brighton and Vadnais Heights.

Alternative 2 aligns Arden Hills in a district with a portion of the City of Minneapolis.

Alternative 3 aligns Arden Hills with the cities of Coon Rapids, Fridley and Spring Lake Park.

The Council will hold a meeting to take public comments on these alternatives. The public can
also give their input through a public comments line or e-mail.

Action

The Council should decide if it wants to support one of the proposed alternatives and if so, feed
that back to the Metropolitan Council through official correspondence.
