<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />~HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />Work Session Agenda Item 4.A <br /> <br />November 14,2002 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> <br /> <br />FROM: Joe Lynch, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Committees and appointments <br /> <br />Backl!round: The City has one Planning Commission; two (2) committees, Parks, Trails <br />and Recreation Committee and Communications Committee; two (2) Task Forces, Ramsey <br />County Public Works and Website and one Advisory Panel, TCAAP Advisory Panel. Each <br />group has been appointed by the City Council. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission aUdits' members are appointed on an annual basis. The Chair <br />position has been held by Mr. David Sand for the last three years. The members are: David <br />Sand, Clayton Zimmerman, Ken Bezdicek, Megan Ricke, Cathy Smithknecht and Terri <br />Duchenes. At this time, only Terri Duchenes has indicated she will not seek reappointment as a <br />Planning Commissioner. As you know, we already have one vacancy on the PC. A notice has <br />been placed in the paper that will advertise these two vacancies. The Website also lists the <br />vacancies and provides for application. If the council would like to interview candidates, this <br />could be arranged for the December 16, 2002 Council Work session. <br /> <br />The Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee expanded from 7 members to as many as 10 <br />members at one time. Through attrition, the PTRC is now at 8 members. Current members are: <br />Don Messerly, Roberta Thompson, Jim Crassweller, Cindy Garretson, Bill Henry, Pat Krenn, <br />and Louis Speggen .The Chair is Rich Straumann. He has been Chair for the last two (2) years. <br />All members of the PTRC have indicated a desire to be reappointed. <br /> <br />The Communications Committee consists of: Mary Nosek, Elwood Caldwell, Brenda Holden, <br />Fran Holmes and Sue Schroeder. Sue Schroeder is the Chair and Mary Nosek is the Publisher. <br />This Committee has been reappointed without change on an annual basis. <br /> <br />The Ramsey County Public Works Task force is a combination of members from the Operations <br />and Finance Committee, Planning Commission and Council and staff liaisons. The charge of <br />this Task force is to assist the city in looking at the Joint use Public Works facility with Ramsey <br />County. The work is very specific and the timeframe well defined. Most members have <br />appreciated having a well defined task with a specified time frame. When the Council makes its' <br />
