<br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> <br />Resolution No. 85-45 <br /> <br />SUPPORTING SENATE FILE 1570 PERMITTING AN <br />EXEMPTION FROM FEDERAL FAIR LABOR STANDARDS <br />OVERTIME PAY REQUIREMENTS FOR CITIES <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, S. 1570 will permit the use of compensa- <br />tory time off In lieu of overtime compensation, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Arden HII Is will experience <br />financial constraints unless municipalities are exempted <br />from the Federal Fair Standards overtime pay requlre~ents, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, taxpayers will have to pay time and one <br />half for overtime without receiving additional services In <br />return, unless municipalities are exempted from the over- <br />time pay requirements, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, most public employees prefer to have the <br />option of taking compensatory time In lieu of overtime pay. <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, S. 1570 would provide permanent financial <br />relief to municipalities. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Arden Hills <br />Council urges your support of Senate File 1570 so that Arden <br />Hills can continue providing the most public service with <br />the fewest tax dollars. <br /> <br />Passed by the Arden Hills Council this 9th day of <br />September, 1985. <br /> <br />tf~f!odt!~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~.{jJ.~ <br /> <br />Charlotte McN esh <br />Clerk Administrator <br />
