<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-72 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR BOARD OF <br />GOVERNMENT INNOVATION AND COOPERATION GRANT; <br />COOPERATION PLANNING GRANT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 1993 Minnesota state Legislature approved a $1.2 <br />million grant fund for local units of government to <br />plan and implement cooperative and service sharing <br />projects; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the money will be awarded to the most innovative <br />proposals; those that cannot be addressed locally <br />because of some of the special and excessive costs to <br />plan a cooperative arrangement or provide a prototype <br />for other governments to follow to institute <br />comparable changes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since about 1981 the cities of New Brighton, Mounds <br />View, Fridley, Shoreview, Arden Hills, and st. Anthony <br />have talked about sharing building inspection services <br />because each city has a difficult time matching its <br />level of staffing to swings in the level of remodeling <br />and construction projects; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, New Brighton has been able to examine remodeling and <br />construction trends for all of the aforementioned <br />cities over the last 5 years, researched other joint <br />powers agreements, and examined potential staffing <br />needs for a shared building inspection service; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is time to refine the plan, and find out if there <br />is commitment to implement a shared building <br />inspection service; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City <br />of Arden Hills, Minnesota to authorize staff to participate with <br />the city of New Brighton, and support their efforts, to apply <br />for a $25,000 cooperation planning grant for the purpose of <br />assessing the feasibility of shared building inspection <br />services. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCI:;tOF HE C~I~~DEN <br />HILLS THIS 27TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1993 <br />'M <br />THOMAS R.
