MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 91-..!!.2 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING ESTABLISHMENT OF A ONE- HALF CENT OPTIONAL SALES TAX <br /> <br />WHEREAS. the 1991 Legislature established a one-half cent optional sales tax that may <br />be adopted by counties or cities within counties to augment local government property <br />tax relief and create a dedicated two-cent revenue stream called the Local <br />Government Trust Fund; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, if counties fail to adopt the optional sales tax. the sales tax for that county <br />will remain at 6 percent, and the county's 1.5 cent share of the revenue stream will <br />be distributed to other cities and counties; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, counties and cities within counties may make up for the lost LGA and HACA <br />funds by raising property taxes or cutting services. or a combination of both. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED. that the Arden Hills City Council hereby supports and <br />requests that the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners adopt the optional one-half <br />cent sales tax by July 1. 1991. as stipulated in Session Laws Chapter 291. <br /> <br />Adopted by the City Council this 10th day of June, 1991. <br /> <br />CITY C UNCIL <br /> <br />CITY::~I~ <br /> <br />Thomas R.
