<br />r <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />RAMSEY COUNTY <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-08 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RAMSEY COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT'S <br />SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT FOR THE COPS AHEAD PROGRAM <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota as follows: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice has recently implemented a competitive <br />grant program called the COPS AHEAD Program whose goals are to increase the <br />number oflaw enforcement officer improve the long-term ability at law <br />enforcement agencies to engage in community policing, and improve public <br />safety through innovative crime prevention; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey County Sheriffs Department provides public safety service on a <br />contract basis to several cities located north of St. Paul, Minnesota, whose <br />combined population exceeds 70,000; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a growing need throughout these cities to add sworn law enforcement <br />officers to develop and coordinate neighborhood crime prevention programs and <br />target certain high crime areas within these cities through community oriented <br />policing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, local funding is currently not available to address these needs due to significant <br />increases in public safety expenditures in recent years to add investigators and <br />other police personnel to address community needs; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota does hereby <br />support the COPS AHEAD Program grant application submitted by the Ramsey County Sheriffs <br />Department. <br /> <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY C <br />THIS 30TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1995. <br /> <br />ATTEST: ~ It ~ <br />TERRANCE R.
