<br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS I <br /> <br />WHEREAS , <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 94-18 <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />.VOLUNTEER OF AMERICA WEEK <br /> <br />MARCH 6 - 13, 1994 <br /> <br />the Volunteers of America, a Christian human service <br />organization, is celebrating its 98th year of service to the <br />people of Minnesota and the nation; it is therefore certainly <br />appropriate for us, the City of Arden Hills, to join in the <br />observance of this milestone with the commemoration of March 6- <br />13, 1994 as Volunteers of America Week; and, <br /> <br />the Volunteers of America is making a valuable contribution by <br />providing these services to adults and the elderly: 6 homes for <br />mentally disabled, mentally ill, chemically dependent and/or <br />elderly adults; congregate dining for seniors at 45 sites in <br />Anoka and Hennepin Counties; home delivered meals for persons 60 <br />years of age and over; semi-independent living services and <br />supported living services; 3 housing complexes for families, the <br />handicapped, and the elderly; and 4 long-term health care <br />facilities; and <br /> <br />the Volunteers of America provides these services for children <br />and youth: 5 programs serving autistic, autistic-like, and/or <br />developmentally disabled children and youth; a children's <br />emergency shelter; in-home services; S2 foster treatment homes <br />and correction group homes; a residential treatment center for <br />emotionally handicapped boys; a specialized behavioral program <br />for boys with severe problems; short-term after care for youth <br />with special needs; and, <br /> <br />the Volunteers of America provides 2 correctional services: a <br />pre-release and work-release correctional program serving men; <br />and a women's jaill workhouse and work-release correctional <br />program; and, <br /> <br />the Volunteers of America, through its dedicated staff and <br />volunteers and the many people who help support their work <br />through financial contributions make an impact on the lives of <br />people in this area; and, <br /> <br />the Volunteers of America is commemorating its founding in 1896 <br />and urges others to join them in bridging the gap between human <br />needs and the resources of the public and private sector; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED I, Thomas Sather, Mayor of the City of Arden <br />Hills, do hereby proclaim the week of March 6-13, 1994 as "VOLUNTEERS OF <br />AMERICA WEEK IN ARDEN HILLS" <br /> <br />AND, BE IT RESOLVED, that copies of this proclamation be transmitted to the <br />Volunteers of America as evidence of our esteem. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1994. <br /> <br /> <br />THO <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />, Q 1-r\.
