The character <br />generator will allow our Cable Technician to add graphics and text to our telecasts. With the <br />addition of a character generator, we will be able to do the following: <br /> <br />~ Place the Arden Hills logo on all telecasts sponsored by the City of Arden Hills. <br />~ When the camera is zoomed in on a particular individual (Councihnember etc. . .) an <br />effort will be made to overlay that individuals name. <br />~ Meeting/event, day, and agenda item if applicable will be overlaid onto the television. <br />~ Additional text and graphics as necessary. <br /> <br />Finaneial.lmplications <br /> <br />This piece of equipment is estimated to cost approximately $2500. CTV will sell the City the <br />character generator as well as provide a warranty and service as needed. Currently, this is a <br />capital item that is currently unbudgeted for 2003. However, the existing fund balance in the <br />Cable Television Special Revenue Fund is sufficient to accommodate this purchase. <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />I. Authorize staff to purchase the character generator in an amount not to exceed $2500 <br />using funds from the Cable Television Special Revenue Fund. <br />
