Map: Arden Hills Neighborhoods #3

On a number of occasions Council has commented on the need for enhanced neighborhood
communication. One such method, suggested by Mayor Aplikowski, would be to have
"neighborhood meetings." To begin evaluating whether this is something the Council would like
to pursue, staff has attempted to identify neighborhoods in Arden Hills. These are outlined on
the three attached maps. A brief description of each is provided below:

Arden Hills Neighborhoods #1: An attempt was made here to identify neighborhoods based on
geography, physical features (roads etc) and social factors influencing various neighborhood.
This breaks Arden Hills down into seven neighborhoods.

Arden Hills Neighborhoods #2: Similar to the Arden Hills Neighborhoods #1 an attempt was
made to identify neighborhoods based on geography, physical features, and social factors.
However, the number of neighborhoods was reduced from seven down to four.

Arden Hills Neighborhoods #3: An attempt was made to cluster most Arden Hills businesses
into one district, and then to create three residentially based districts each approximately the
same sIze.

In addition to identifying neighborhoods, the following should be considered pnor to
establishing neighborhood meetings:

>- The form and format of the meetings. Would they be presentation oriented,
discussion oriented, or some combination of both?
>- The location of the meetings. Most of the neighborhoods allow for a meeting place
