DESCRIBE <br />MEASURES TO AVOID OR MINIMIZE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS DUE TO <br />ANY OF THESE HAZARDS. <br /> <br />B. DESCRIBE THE SOILS ON THE SITE, GIVING NRCS (SCS) CLASSIFICATIONS, IF <br />KNOWN. DISCUSS SOIL GRANULARITY AND POTENTIAL FOR <br />GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION FROM WASTES OR CHEMICALS SPREAD <br />OR SPILLED ONTO THE SOILS. DISCUSS ANY MITIGATION MEASURES TO <br />PREVENT SUCH CONTAMINATION. <br /> <br />AUAR: <br />A map should be included to show any groundwater hazards identified. A standard soils <br />map covering the area should be included. <br /> <br />The Bedrock Geology (1992) portion of the Geological Atlas for Ramsey County was <br />reviewed for the AUAR study area and does not identify any geologic features (karst <br />topography, shallow limestone, etc.) that will result in potential groundwater hazard <br />conditions. <br /> <br />The Washington and Ramsey County Soil Survey (U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Soil <br />Conservation Service, 1980) was reviewed and indicates that native soils within the AUAR <br />study area consist mostly of the Hayden-Urban variety which are undulating to steep, well- <br />drained, moderately coarse textured soils and urban lands; or uplands. Much of the AUAR <br />study area is now considered Urban Land, which includes 70 percent coverage by buildings <br />and pavement, and native soil has been greatly altered by excavation and grading. <br /> <br />Figure II shows the location of various soil types in the study area, including slope <br />percentages for each soil subgroup. Soils information for the study area was obtained from <br />the Washington and Ramsey Counties Soil Survey (U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil <br />Conservation Service, 1980).
