Thank you for sending the City of Arden Hills a copy of the letter that the D.S. Postal Service sent to the GSA, indicating their potential interest in acquiring an 82-acre site within the TCAAP property. The intended use for this site has been described as a consolidated distribution facility. Thank you also for the copy of your response letter to the U.S. Postal Service, notifying them of our re-use planning process and directing them to participate in that process. As you know, we are in the beginning stages of a major process to plan and design the ultimate re-use of the TCAAP property. We have committed to following the Vento Re-Use Plan as the guiding framework for this project In addition to its major commitment to permanently protect open space, the Vento Re-Use Plan calls for a mixture of residential and commercial and industrial land uses. The process that we have commissioned involves and encourages the active participation of a broad cross-section of stakeholders. It is designed to support the free and open consideration of several alternative ways in which the various land uses and ownership patterns might be arranged on the land. We are committed to working with the National Guard and Ramsey County to fully understand their needs. We intend to work closely with them and others, as we proceed, until we are successful in realizing the vision of the Vento Re-Use Plan. Last Friday, January 17, our City Council met with the project developer, CRR, Inc., our planning consultant and staff and reviewed the impact that a Post Office Distribution facility would have on the TCAAP project Please remember that we have already agreed that the site should become the home for an 80-acre combined maintenance facility for Ramsey County and the National Guard. We reviewed photographs of other Post Office Distribution facilities around the Twin Cities area. They are, without exception, large utilitarian warehouses, surrounded by . hundreds of semi trailers.
